Wednesday Froglets, week 10. All about birds!

Wow, these froggies are troopers, hiking through the woods in the rain and finding cool trails!
D always has a smile, especially for the camera!
Go explorers, go!
We found this very porous wood. Who made all these tiny holes?
What fun lines we saw on this log. So wiggly!

Tuesday Froglets, week 10. All about birds

We used our ears to listen today. The birds were calling but so hard to see!
We stopped to make soup
Anyone hungry?
We admired witches butter
Look! Spider eggs!
Really neat fungus on log. I zoomed in with my camera for a close up look
More amazing fungus!
Proud bird listener and treasure finder

Thursday Tadpoles, week 9. Wildlife trees!

We used our flashlights to peek into nooks and crannies in the woods today.
There were so many things to see...spiders, potato bugs, beetles, a whole community of creatures living in dead trees!
Hello bugs!
We spy a baby tree....awww...
So much to explore

We found out that bugs make holes and tunnels in logs!
Some stumps are fun to climb inside
Whee!
We read about Harry the Hairy Woodpecker
See you next week!!

Wednesday Froglets, week 9. Wildlife trees!

We were so lucky to have Erin and Gus hike with us today! Look how big our little froggy is-6 weeks old!
We searched for snags and peeked in hollows with our flashlights.
Anybody home?
This hollow stump was full of water! Neato!
Pretty amazing snag in Fairy Valley
There's a fungus among us..among us...
Baby braken fern fiddleheads, how exciting!
This nursery log has so many plants growing on it! Gorgeous!

The froggies made a lot of sand castles in the dry creek bed. What a beautiful day!
See you next week!

Tuesday Froglets, week 9. Wildlife trees!

The froggies found so many wildlife trees to explore in Hamlin. Stumps, snags and nurse logs-hurray!
This used to be a tree! We inspected the surrounding soil and found a lot of tree bark and rotting wood. That stuff really nourishes our new plant life!
Let's see what is under this bark...
Braken fiddleheads and a slug? Wow!
Could there be a nesting cavity in this snag? We sure hope so!
Oh my! Look at this amazing bug-with eggs!
We are crawling like baby bears! Fun!
See you next week!

Thursday Tadpoles, week 8. Communication

Our tadpoles went on a search for the letterbox today. All aboard, its time to follow clues!
On our trail, we found wood violets in bloom! Spring is here!
Oh look-a hollow stump big enough for one person.....
We had to find a big mossy log. Is this it?
We finally found our letterbox and left a message for other classes! Hurray!
See you next week!

Wednesday Froglets, week 8. Communication!

Our froggies were given the responsibility of interpreting a map and clues created by our Tuesday class. Oh how tricky! However, they were spookily successful!
Here they are at one of the clues. A hollow stump big enough to climb into.
And "owl box number 2" was so easy to find! Great way to use your memory, J!
A mossy log? How did they know it was this one? The forest is full of mossy logs! E, you are amazing!
Letterbox located in 30 minutes. Great job, froggies! We worked as a team and solved the puzzle!
See you next week!
